Regarding "Straight Leg Course Control (ACE)"
“Straight Leg Course Control”, commonly known as ACE or Advanced Control for Ecology, is a route control function. This function automatically creates a route and implement the best rudder control to make it possible for vessel to sail the most efficient and safest route. We have already begun sales of the product that can be installed in automatic steering systems for both newly built and operational vessels. Through this product, we will realize energy-saving vessel operations, responding to increasing demands from the market and customers for environmental considerations.
- ACE can automatically create a straight route and implement navigation at the shortest distance, only by setting the ship's current position and the heading of a destination. While navigating, it constantly estimates disturbances (tidal currents, wind) and calculates the cross track distance to control the rudder optimally.
- Energy efficient navigation can be realized by reducing navigation distance due to deciding the shortest route and by reducing deceleration by rudder control when veering, compared with conventional steering control.
- By the reduction in route deviation when sailing to the destination, navigation officers can reduce the burden on course changes and concentrate on monitoring the ship’s surroundings while navigating.
- It can be used easily with the same simple operation as conventional heading control.
Product and Solution Certification
This is one of the certification of Innovation Endorsement, initiated by ClassNK as a third-party certification service for innovative technologies and initiatives. The scope of Innovation Endorsement covers four categories: Digital, Environment, Safety, and Labor, and ClassNK certifies advanced products and systems in these categories.
